Overhead Lights
A focused light source that simulates sunlight or moonlight coming through a window.
Gobo
Horizontal and vertical spread of a light which determines the size of the area it covers.
Beam Angle
Intentionally focused light that creates distinct, sharp-edged shadows.
Hard Light
Low-intensity light that reveals the general shape of the stage and prevents complete darkness.
Work Lights
Soft, diffused lighting to help eliminate harsh shadows and mimic ambient lighting.
Soft Light
The color of light, which can set the mood or time of day.
Gel
A light that hangs vertically above the stage and lights downwards on the performers.
Top Light
Secondary lights that soften the shadows created by the main light.

A light that moves and changes, often used to spotlight different performers or areas of the stage.

The primary light on a subject, often coming from above and slightly to the front.
Key Light
Creates a subtle contour along the edges of performers to help separate them from the background.
