Unconditional Positive Regard
Unconditional Positive Regard is an approach where therapists show complete support and acceptance of their clients irrespective of what they say or do. This concept is considered fundamental in client-centered therapy for creating a therapeutic environment conducive to the client's self-growth and self-acceptance.
Empathy
Empathy in therapeutic settings is the ability of the therapist to understand and share the feelings of their client. It involves accurately perceiving the client's personal experience and conveying this understanding back to the client. Empathy is crucial for establishing trust and encourages clients to express themselves fully.
Congruence
Congruence, also known as genuineness, is when therapists are authentic and transparent with their clients. The therapists' feelings and expressions are aligned, fostering an environment of trust. Congruence is essential because it helps clients to open up, knowing that their therapist is being real and honest with them.
