Preconventional Morality: Stage 1
Age range: Approximately 4 to 10 years old. Key features: Obedience and punishment orientation; the key concern is to avoid trouble.
Preconventional Morality: Stage 2
Age range: Approximately 4 to 10 years old. Key features: Individualism and exchange; realizing that different individuals have different viewpoints.
Conventional Morality: Stage 3
Age range: Approximately 10 to 13 years old. Key features: Good interpersonal relationships; behavior is about pleasing others and being a 'good boy' or 'good girl'.

Age range: Adulthood (attained by very few). Key features: Universal principles; guided by internal moral principles which apply to everyone.
