Flashcards
0/15
Marker-Based AR
Uses a camera and some type of visual marker, such as a QR code, to produce a result only when the marker is sensed by the device.
Markerless AR
Relies on the capabilities of the device to track the user's position and orientation without the need for a specific visual marker. This is used in AR gaming and GPS applications.
Projection-Based AR
Projects artificial light onto physical surfaces, and in some cases allows human interaction with the projections.
Superimposition-Based AR
Partially or fully replaces the original view of an object with an augmented view.
Outlining AR
Outlines or highlights certain physical objects in the user's environment. Commonly used for outlining paths or roads while driving.
Location-Based AR
Uses the location of the device to provide relevant content, such as the nearest restaurants, navigation arrows on the road, or tourist information about monuments.
Collaborative AR
Allows multiple users to interact with the same augmented environment in real time. Common in games and collaborative design applications.
Smartglass AR
Employs wearable technology, like AR glasses, where digital content is overlaid onto the lenses to enhance the user's real-world view.
Interactive AR
Allows users to interact with digital objects in a real environment using gestures, touches, or other forms of manipulation.
Domestic AR
Applied to household environments to aid in tasks such as cooking with virtual recipe overlays, assembling furniture with step-by-step guides, or interior designing.
Educational AR
Aims to enhance learning experiences by adding visual and interactive layers to educational materials, like bringing historical events or scientific concepts to life.
Telepresence AR
Uses AR technology to represent remote participants in meetings or conferences as if they were present in the same physical space.
Medical AR
Used in healthcare to provide visualizations of anatomy for educational purposes, or to overlay diagnostic data directly onto the patient's body during procedures.
Enterprise AR
Customized AR solutions that assist with various industrial or professional tasks, such as machinery maintenance, complex assembly instructions, or data visualization for decision-makers.
Sports and Entertainment AR
Enhances the viewer's experience by overlaying stats, trajectories, and other pertinent information during live sports events, or adding interactive elements to live performances and theme parks.
