Dasein
Refers to the human being as a 'being-there', highlighting the distinctive way in which humans engage with the world.
Being-in-the-world
A unitary structure that states Dasein's fundamental relation to its environment, other beings, and its own self.
Ready-to-hand
Describes objects in the way they are integrated into our practical understanding and activities, often not consciously perceived.
Present-at-hand
A way of encountering objects not through use, but through detached contemplation or theoretical investigation.
Sorge (Care)
Fundamental characteristic of Dasein, it represents the way in which Dasein is always already involved with and concerned about its own being.
Being-towards-death
Refers to the way in which Dasein relates to its own finite existence and potentiality for not-being.
Authenticity
Represents a mode of existence characterized by Dasein's owning up to its ownmost potentiality-for-Being.
Inauthenticity
A mode of existence where Dasein is lost in the 'they' and does not embrace its ownmost potentiality-for-Being.
Thrownness (Geworfenheit)
Describes the pre-given condition of human existence as finding oneself already in a certain historical and cultural context.
Existentiality
Denotes the characteristic of Dasein which makes it fundamentally a being possible, capable of projection and understanding its own existence.
Being-with (Mitsein)
Refers to the inherently social aspect of human existence, the fact that Dasein is always already in a world shared with other Daseins.
Care structure
Denotes the interrelated aspects of existence that constitute Dasein's being: thrownness, projection, and fallenness.
Fallenness
Captures the tendency of Dasein to lose itself in the ordinary and everyday mode of existence, thereby drifting from authenticity.
Das Man ('the They')
Represents the anonymous collective that often dictates norms and behaviors, leading to an inauthentic way of existing.
Temporalität (Temporality)
Refers to the existential and ontological foundation of Dasein, which underlies all structures of its existence.
