Noema and Noesis
Noema refers to the object as it is experienced, and noesis to the act of consciousness. These concepts help in understanding the correlation between consciousness and the world.
Epoché
Epoché refers to the suspension of judgment about the natural world. Its purpose is to gain a fresh perspective by putting aside biases and preconceived notions about phenomena.
Intentionality
Intentionality is the directedness of consciousness. In phenomenology, understanding intentionality helps to clarify how consciousness gives meaning to objects.
Phenomenological Reduction
This step involves stripping phenomena of all theories and assumptions to view them in their purest forms. It guides the researcher to view experiences without their external contexts or causal explanations.
Eidetic Variation
This is the imaginative variation of aspects of phenomena to understand their essential structures. It helps in identifying the invariant core that defines the essence of phenomena.
Hermeneutical Reflection
This involves interpreting the meanings of experiences within their contexts. The purpose is to understand the significance of phenomena in relation to the lifeworld.
Intuition of Essences
Direct apprehension of the essential characteristics of phenomena. This component aims to uncover the universal qualities that define the nature of experiences.
Constitution
Constitution refers to the process by which phenomena are constructed in consciousness. It is key to understanding how meaning is formed within experiences.
