Edge quality
The sharpness or softness of a boundary between light and shadow
Contrast
Difference in luminance or color that makes an object distinguishable
Highlights
The brightest parts of your drawing where light hits directly
Value scale
The range of lightness to darkness in your drawing
Reflected light
Light that bounces off surrounding objects into the shadowed areas
Ambient occlusion
The shadowing that occurs in areas where light doesn't easily reach
Transmission and absorption
How light passes through or is absorbed by objects
Chiaroscuro
The use of strong contrasts between light and dark to give the illusion of volume
