Noun
A noun is a part of speech that identifies a person, place, thing, or idea. Example: In the sentence 'The cat sat on the mat,' 'cat' and 'mat' are nouns.
Adjective
An adjective is a word that describes or modifies a noun. Example: 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.' 'Quick' and 'lazy' are adjectives.
Interjection
An interjection is an abrupt remark, usually an exclamation, inserted into a sentence. Example: 'Wow! That’s an amazing trick.' 'Wow' is an interjection.
Modal
A modal is a type of auxiliary verb that indicates modality - possibility, ability, permission, or obligation. Example: 'You must submit the assignment by Friday.' 'Must' is a modal.
Article
An article is used to indicate specificity of a noun. In English, there are definite (the) and indefinite articles (a, an). Example: 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away.' 'An' and 'a' are articles.
Verb
A verb is a word that expresses an action or a state of being. Example: 'The programmer writes code every day.' 'Writes' is a verb.
Conjunction
A conjunction connects words, phrases, or clauses. Example: 'She likes coffee, but she prefers tea.' 'But' is a conjunction.
Determiner
A determiner is a word that introduces a noun and specifies its reference in context. Example: 'Those cars are fast.' 'Those' is a determiner.
Adverb
An adverb modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs, often indicating manner, time, or intensity. Example: 'She solved the puzzle quickly.' 'Quickly' is an adverb.
Preposition
A preposition is a word placed before a noun or pronoun to form a phrase modifying another word in the sentence. Example: 'The book on the desk belongs to him.' 'On' is a preposition.
Pronoun
A pronoun is used in place of a noun or noun phrase to avoid repetition. Example: 'She is an excellent coder; she starts her day with a challenging problem.' 'She' is a pronoun.
Infinitive
An infinitive is the base form of a verb, often preceded by 'to.' It can be used as a noun, adjective, or adverb. Example: 'To err is human.' 'To err' is an infinitive.
