If you must leave before the end, do so quietly and at an appropriate break in the performance.
Alcohol Consumption
If alcohol is available, consume it responsibly to avoid disrupting the performance or other audience members.
Applauding at the right moment
Wait for the trick to reach its climax or when the performer indicates, before applauding to show appreciation.
Being a Respectful Volunteer
Participate sincerely without trying to disrupt the trick or upstage the magician.
Seating Courtesy
Do not block other audience members' view with big hats or by standing at inappropriate times.
Responding to Magic
Express wonder and enjoyment verbally and non-verbally without feigning over-reactions.
Audience Participation
Volunteer only when the magician asks, be respectful, and follow instructions when on stage.
Children at the Show
Ensure children are well-behaved, and inform them of the proper etiquette before the show starts.
Handling Props Given by Magician
Treat any props given to assist in a trick with care, and return them promptly and in the condition received.
Keeping the Secrets
Do not call out guesses about how tricks are done; enjoy the mystery and keep the secrets.
Show Duration Awareness
Know the length of the show in advance to plan for no interruptions needing exits or bathroom breaks.
Reacting to Mistakes
If a trick seems to go awry, react politely and give the magician a chance to recover or move on without drawing attention to the mistake.
Talking During the Show
Keep conversations to a minimum and at a low volume so as not to disturb the performance or other audience members.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, wait for a suitable break in the performance or for an usher's guidance to seat you.
