Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Responsible for the protection of human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Primary investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice, focusing on protecting and defending the U.S. against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats and enforcing the criminal laws of the United States.
Department of Education
Promotes student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access to educational opportunity.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Responsible for national policies and programs that address America's housing needs, improve and develop the nation's communities, and enforce fair housing laws.

Responsible for the United States' policies regarding energy and safety in handling nuclear material. Its role includes the management of the nation's nuclear weapons, nuclear reactor production for the United States Navy, energy conservation, and energy-related research.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Has the primary responsibilities of protecting the United States and its territories from and responding to terrorist attacks, man-made accidents, and natural disasters.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Primary national public health institute of the United States. Its main goal is to protect public health and safety through the control and prevention of disease, injury, and disability.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Ensures safe and healthy working conditions for workers by enforcing workplace laws and standards and by providing workplace safety training.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
Regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
Protects investors, maintains fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitates capital formation. The SEC oversees securities exchanges, securities brokers and dealers, investment advisors, and mutual funds.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
Promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
United States Postal Service (USPS)
Responsible for providing postal service in the United States, including its insular areas and associated states. It's an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government.
Social Security Administration (SSA)
Administers social security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. It issues Social Security numbers and administers the Supplemental Security Income program.
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
Provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sound public policy, the best available science, and efficient management.
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
Ensures that consumers have the information they need to make the best financial decisions they can for themselves and their families. The CFPB works to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices.
Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Protects consumers by stopping unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent practices in the marketplace. The agency conducts investigations, sues companies and people that violate the law, develops rules to ensure a vibrant marketplace, and educates consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Responsible for protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of the nation's food supply and cosmetics.
Department of Transportation (DOT)
Responsible for helping maintain and develop the nation's transportation systems and infrastructure. From roads to airlines to railways, the DOT carries out planning that supports the movement of Americans by cars, truck, trains, ships, and planes.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
An agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), primarily responsible for coordinating the response to disasters that occur in the United States and that overwhelm the resources of local and state authorities.
National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and public health research. It conducts its own scientific research and provides funding to other research institutions in and outside of the United States.
United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
Responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance. With a focus on poverty relief, it provides disaster relief, poverty aid, technical cooperation on global issues, including the environment, and socioeconomic development.
Department of Labor (DOL)
Oversees federal programs for ensuring a strong American workforce. These programs address job training, safe working conditions, minimum hourly wage and overtime pay, employment discrimination, and unemployment insurance.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Scientific agency within the United States Department of Commerce that focuses on the conditions of the oceans, major waterways, and the atmosphere. NOAA warns of dangerous weather, charts seas, guides the use and protection of ocean and coastal resources, and conducts research to provide the understanding needed to ensure environmental stewardship.
Small Business Administration (SBA)
Provides support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. The mission of the SBA is to maintain and strengthen the nation's economy by enabling the establishment and viability of small businesses and by assisting in the economic recovery of communities after disasters.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Justice, tasked with combating drug smuggling and use within the United States.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
Law enforcement agency in the United States Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products.
