Key Light
The primary source of light for a scene, often used to highlight the form and dimension of the subject.
Side Light
Placed at the sides of the stage, used to highlight performers' profiles and to add depth.
Cyclorama Lights
Used to light a cyclorama or backcloth from either the top, bottom or sides to create a sky-like effect.
Downlight
A lighting position directly above the stage, casting light downwards, often to create an even wash.
Godspot
A beam of light shining from above usually to represent a divine presence on stage.
Peplights
Small lights used in a theater's auditorium to help the audience navigate steps and aisles in the dark.
Fresnel Spotlights
