Crown Molding
Typically used where the wall meets the ceiling, crown molding is a decorative element that adds elegance to a room.
Baseboard
Installed at the lower part of the wall where it meets the floor, baseboards cover gaps and add a finished look to a room.
Chair Rail
Originally designed to protect walls from chairs, chair rails are installed horizontally around the room and often define a boundary for different wall treatments.
Picture Frame Molding
This molding creates a series of square or rectangular frames along a wall, often used to emulate the look of a picture gallery.
Ogee Molding
An 'S' shaped profile that can be used for both crown and base moldings, often seen in traditional and historical designs.
Cove Molding
A concave-profiled molding that is used to soften transitions where walls meet ceilings.
Wainscoting
A paneling style applied to the lower section of an interior wall, wainscoting adds texture and depth to a room.
Egg and Dart
A classical decorative feature where an oval (egg) shape is alternated with a V-like dart or arrow, often used in cornices and crown moldings.
Shoe Molding
A small, flexible trim that is used to cover the gap between the baseboard and floor, often matching the baseboard material.
Panel Molding
Trim that frames raised or flat panels on a wall, panel molding adds dimension and a classic look to a room's interior.
Picture Rail
A horizontal strip of molding placed high up on a wall, picture rails allow for artwork to be hung without damaging the wall surface.
Beadboard
A type of wainscoting, beadboard consists of vertical paneling with a rounded 'bead' detail between each board.
Dentil Molding
Consisting of small, evenly spaced blocks in a row, dentil molding has a tooth-like appearance and is commonly found in classical architecture.
Dado Rail
Installed horizontally at about waist height, dado rails were traditionally used to protect walls from chair backs and to add a horizontal line for visual interest.
Batten
A strip of molding typically used to cover the seam between two panels of wall covering or board and batten wainscoting.
