Polarizing Filter
Reduces reflections from non-metallic surfaces; enhances contrast and saturation, especially in the sky.
Neutral Density (ND) Filter
Reduces the intensity of all wavelengths of light entering the lens; allows slower shutter speeds and wider apertures.
Close-Up Filter
Acts like a magnifying glass to allow closer focusing; used for macro or close-up photography.
Enhancing Filter
Heightens the saturation and contrast of certain colors, specifically reds and oranges; often used to make fall foliage appear more vibrant.
Infrared (IR) Filter
Blocks visible light and only allows infrared light to pass; creates ethereal-looking landscapes and unique portraits.
Starburst Filter
Adds a star pattern to bright light sources in the image; enhances the visual impact of highlights.
Graduated ND Filter
Similar to a ND filter but with a graduation from dark to transparent; balances the exposure between a bright sky and a darker foreground.
Color Correction Filter
Alters or corrects the color balance of the light reaching the film or sensor; used to match the film to the light source.
UV Filter
Blocks ultraviolet light; reduces haze and bluish cast, and protects the lens.
Soft Focus Filter
Creates a soft glow and reduces the sharpness; minimizes blemishes and can create a dreamy effect.
