Fill the Frame
Get close to the subject or use a zoom lens to fill the frame, which minimizes distractions and focuses intensely on the subject's details.
Simplicity
Keep your composition simple by only including elements that contribute to your story, message, or subject, removing any unnecessary distractions.
Selective Focus
Use a shallow depth of field to isolate the subject from its background and foreground, focusing the viewer's attention.
Leading Lines
Use natural or artificial lines within the scene to lead the viewer's eye towards the main subject or to navigate through the composition.
Color Theory
Choose colors in your composition based on color theory, using harmonious or contrasting colors to convey different moods or emphasis.
Negative Space
Incorporate a large area of empty or open space around the subject to emphasize it and create a minimalist feel.
Frame within a Frame
Use elements within the scene to create a frame around your subject, which draws attention towards it and adds depth.
Rule of Odds
Arrange your composition with an odd number of subjects, which is thought to be more visually appealing than even numbers.
Rule of Thirds
Divide the frame using two horizontal and two vertical lines. Place important elements along these lines or at their intersections.
Perspective
Change your shooting angle or position to provide a new and unique viewpoint of the subject that might reveal hidden details or patterns.
Brightness and Contrast
Control the distribution of light and dark areas in your composition to guide the viewer's eye and add dramatic interest.
Symmetry and Patterns
Identify symmetrical arrangements or repeating patterns and use them to create a visually pleasing and balanced composition.
Texture
Emphasize texture in your composition to add depth, interest, and a tactile sense to your images.
Golden Ratio
Apply the golden ratio (approximately 1:1.618) to create aesthetically pleasing compositions that naturally draw the viewer's eye.
Juxtaposition
Place contrasting elements or subjects next to each other to highlight the differences and create an intriguing narrative or visual interest.
