K3tog (Knit Three Together)
A right-leaning double decrease that combines three stitches into one by knitting them together simultaneously.
SK2P (Slip one, Knit two together, Pass slipped stitch over)
Another double decrease which results in a centered stitch by slipping one stitch knitwise, knitting the next two stitches together, and then passing the slipped stitch over the K2tog.
Make One Left (M1L)
An increase rather than a decrease, this technique involves lifting the bar between stitches with the left needle and knitting it through the back loop to avoid holes.
SSP (Slip, Slip, Purl)
A decrease on the purl side that creates a left-leaning stitch. Slip two stitches knitwise, then purl them together through the back loops.
P3tog (Purl Three Together)
This is a wrong side decrease that combines three purl stitches into one, creating a pronounced right-leaning decrease on the right side of the fabric.
P2tog (Purl Two Together)
Similar to K2tog but on the purl side. Purl two stitches together to decrease on the wrong side of work.
Sl1, K1, PSSO (Slip One, Knit One, Pass Slipped Stitch Over)
Creates a left-leaning decrease by slipping one stitch purlwise, knitting the next stitch, and then passing the slipped stitch over the knit one.
SSK (Slip, Slip, Knit)
A left-leaning decrease that involves slipping two stitches knitwise individually, then knitting them together through the back loops.
TBL (Through Back Loop)
Though not a decrease, knitting a stitch through its back loop will twist it, often used in combination with decreases for textural effects.
K2tog (Knit Two Together)
A right-leaning decrease achieved by knitting two stitches together as if they were one, effectively merging them.
P2tog tbl (Purl Two Together Through Back Loop)
Decrease by purling two stitches together through their back loops, producing a left-leaning decrease on the right side of work.
Centered Double Decrease (CDD)
A balanced decrease that removes two stitches, involving slipping two stitches together knitwise, knitting the next stitch, then passing the slipped stitches over.
