He wrote both comedies and tragedies, and his most significant contribution may be the creation of historical play (fabula praetexta) in Roman literature, with works such as 'Clastidium' that were based on Roman history.
Livy Andronicus
Translated many Greek works into Latin, one of his notable contributions being a version of Homer's 'Odyssey'. Livy's works and translations helped establish literary Latin and were pivotal in the introduction of Greek literature and thought to Rome.
Terence
He wrote plays like 'Andria,' 'Eunuchus,' 'Heauton Timorumenos,' and 'Adelphoe'. Terence's works are noted for their complex plots and refined characterization, setting a standard for Roman comedy.
Plautus
Known for works such as 'Amphitryon,' 'Miles Gloriosus,' and 'Pseudolus'. Plautus was influential in creating the framework for farce and situation comedy in Roman theater.
Seneca
Known tragedies include 'Phaedra,' 'Thyestes,' and 'The Trojan Women'. Seneca's influence was profound on the development of European tragedy, and he is often credited with being the first Roman to use theater for literary expression.
