Freestyle (Front Crawl)
Freestyle is characterized by the alternate overhand motion of the arms and the flutter kick of the legs. It is commonly used for racing due to its speed and efficiency.
Breaststroke
The breaststroke uses a frog kick and simultaneous horizontal arm movements. It is one of the slowest but most technically precise strokes, often taught to beginners for its simplicity of gliding.
Individual Medley
The Individual Medley is not a stroke, but a swimming event that combines all four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle, swum in that order in a race.
Butterfly
Butterfly stroke features a simultaneous overhead arm motion and a dolphin kick. This is one of the most physically demanding strokes, frequently used in competitive swimming.
Backstroke
Backstroke involves lying on the back and performing alternate circular arm motions and a flutter kick. It is unique for its supine position in the water and is used in competitive events.
