Neem Oil
Used as a general pesticide to control pests like aphids and mites. Apply as a foliar spray when pest presence is noticed, preferably in the evening to avoid burning leaves.
Horticultural Oil
Effective against a variety of insect pests and eggs, including aphids and spider mites. Apply during the dormant season or early spring to smothers pests without harming the plant.
Garlic Spray
Can repel a variety of pests including insects and small mammals. Mix crushed garlic with water, let it sit for 24 hours, strain and spray on plants either early in the day or late in the afternoon.
Milk Spray
Prevents fungal diseases like powdery mildew on crops. Mix milk with water in a 1:9 ratio and spray on plants, applying every 1-2 weeks and after rainfall.
Pyrethrin
Derived from chrysanthemum flowers, used to target a wide range of insects. Apply when insects are active and reapply after rain or irrigation.
Insecticidal Soap
Targets soft-bodied insects such as aphids, whiteflies, and mites. Apply as a spray directly to pests, making sure to cover all plant surfaces, during cooler parts of the day.
Sulfur
One of the oldest known pesticides, it's effective against fungi, bacteria, and some mites. Apply as a dust or spray on leaves, and best used when the air is calm and during cool weather.
Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)
A naturally occurring bacterial pesticide effective against caterpillars and some other insects. Apply to foliage when larvae are present and before they have caused significant damage.
Diatomaceous Earth
A powder made from fossilized diatoms that works by physically damaging the exoskeletons of insects. Sprinkle around the base of plants or on foliage when dry and reapply after rain.
Spinosad
Used for controlling caterpillars, thrips, and many other pests. Apply to affected plants when pests are present and reapply every 7 to 10 days as needed.
