Containerization
The use of standard-sized steel boxes (containers) in which goods are shipped in a sealed unit, optimizing handling and facilitating intermodal transport.
Demurrage

Shipping method where the transported goods fill up an entire truck, or a dedicated shipment is transported regardless of the trailer being full.
Reefer
A refrigerated trailer used to transport perishable goods that require temperature-controlled environments during transport.
Freight Class
A classification system used by carriers to establish the transportability of goods by assessing factors such as weight, size, density, ease of handling, and liability.
Tare Weight
The weight of an empty vehicle or container. When subtracted from the gross weight (laden weight), it provides the net weight of the cargo.
Intermodal Transportation
The transportation of freight using multiple modes of transportation (e.g., rail, ship, and truck) without handling the freight itself when changing modes.
