Plant Growth Stages
6
Flashcards
0/6
Flowering
At this stage, the plant develops flowers that may lead to fruit production. Light exposure, temperature, and water are key to proper development.
Seed Germination
This is the initial stage of growth where the seed begins to sprout and develop roots. Adequate water, oxygen, and the right temperature are critical for this phase.
Fruit Development
After pollination and fertilization, this stage involves the growth and maturation of fruit. The plant requires continuous nutrient and water supply.
Vegetative Growth
During this stage, the plant focuses on growing in size; leaves expand, and the root system deepens. Light, nutrients, and water are important to sustain this rapid growth.
Seed Maturation and Dispersal
The final stage includes the drying down of fruit and the maturation of seeds inside. This phase prepares the seeds for dispersal to grow new plants.
Pollination
Pollination is the process by which pollen is transferred to the stigma, leading to fertilization. It can be abiotic or biotic and requires compatible pollen.
