Gloria
An ancient hymn giving praise to God; typically omitted during Advent and Lent, and recited on Sundays and special feasts.
Agnus Dei
A chant addressed to Christ as the 'Lamb of God', asking for mercy and peace, sung while the priest breaks the bread.
Kyrie
A chant in which the faithful ask for God's mercy; traditionally 'Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy'.
Introit
It is an antiphon with psalm that is sung as the clergy enter the church and approach the altar at the start of the Mass.
Credo
Also known as the Nicene Creed, it is a statement of the shared beliefs of the Church, recited by the congregation.
Sanctus
The hymn 'Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts' sung right before the consecration, joining the song of the angels in heaven.
