Trademark
A trademark is a recognizable sign, design, or expression which identifies products or services of a particular source from those of others. Protection Mechanisms: registering trademarks, monitoring for misuse, legal action to prevent unauthorized use.
Trade Secret
A trade secret is information, including a formula, compilation, program, device, method, technique, or process that derives independent economic value from not being generally known or readily ascertainable. Protection Mechanisms: non-disclosure agreements, employee training, physical and digital security measures.
Copyright
Copyright is a form of protection given to the creators of original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and certain other intellectual works. Protection Mechanisms: displaying copyright notices, registering works, legal defense against infringement.
Patent
A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention, which is a product or a process that provides a new way of doing something, or offers a new technical solution to a problem. Industrial design refers to the ornamental or aesthetic aspect of an article. It may consist of three-dimensional features, such as the shape of an article, or two-dimensional features, such as patterns, lines, or color.
