Agile Development
An approach to software development under which requirements and solutions evolve through the collaborative effort of self-organizing and cross-functional teams. Key components include Scrum, Sprint, Iterations, Daily Stand-ups, and Retrospectives.
Job-To-Be-Done Framework
A framework that focuses on the 'job' a product is hired to do by the customers. It is a perspective on product innovation that feeds into the product design process. Key components include Customer Interviews, Identifying Customer Needs, Outcome-driven Innovation, and Product Positioning centered around the 'job' rather than demographic or psychographic segmentation.
Lean Startup
A methodology for developing businesses and products that aims to shorten product development cycles by adopting a combination of business-hypothesis-driven experimentation, iterative product releases, and validated learning. Key components include the Build-Measure-Learn loop, Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and Pivot or Persevere decisions.
Design Thinking
A non-linear, iterative process that teams use to understand users, challenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test. Key components include Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.
Stage-Gate Process
A project management approach that divides the process of developing new products into a series of stages separated by gates. At each gate, continuation is decided by typically a manager, steering committee, or governance board on the basis of the information available at the time. Key components include Idea Screening, Concept Testing, Business Analysis, Product Development, Testing & Validation, and Launch.
