The fiddle is a mainstay in Celtic music, similar to the violin but played with a different style. Often used for lively dance tunes and melancholic airs, it holds a place of high regard in Celtic traditions.
Low Whistle
A variant of the tin whistle with a deeper, mellower tone. Used for slower ballads and airs in Irish and Scottish music, and often made of metal or wood.
Harp Guitar
A rare, hybrid guitar with additional unstopped strings that resonate freely, providing a lush, harp-like accompaniment to melodies played on the guitar strings.

Commonly associated with Scotland, these wind instruments require continuous air flow from a bag. Bagpipes are an integral part of Scottish military and civilian ceremonies.
Tin Whistle
A simple, high-pitched woodwind instrument made of metal. The tin whistle is emblematic of Irish music and easily recognizable by its clear, piercing melodies.

Mandolin
A small, stringed instrument related to the lute, commonly used in folk and Celtic music for its bright, jangling sound, it is often strummed or plucked.
Uilleann Pipes
Complex bagpipe variant from Ireland. Rather than blowing, it's powered by a bellows. Known for its sweet, expressive tones, it's deeply ingrained in Irish culture.
Celtic Harp
An emblem of Ireland, the Celtic harp features a triangular frame and is plucked with the fingers. It carries a soothing timbre and is often associated with Celtic mythology and folklore.
Banjo
Originally from the American folk tradition, the four-string tenor banjo has been embraced in Irish music. Its twangy and upbeat sounds are popular in ceilidhs and hoedowns.
Button Accordion
A type of accordion common in Celtic music, particularly in Ireland. It uses buttons instead of piano-style keys and is integral for dance music such as reels and jigs.
Highland Flute
Similar to the classical flute but often made of wood and used in Scottish and Irish music for a traditional tone. Perfect for both lively and soft, lamenting pieces.

In Celtic music, the traditional wooden flute has a distinctive warm tone, different from the classical metal flute. It’s frequently featured in Irish sessions and folk groups.
Concertina
A small, hexagonal accordion that's popular in Ireland. Its bellow-driven sounds are often heard in maritime songs and dance music within the Celtic tradition.
