Constitutional Law vs. Corporate Law
Constitutional Law deals with the structure of the state and the rights of individuals vis-a-vis the state. Corporate Law governs the relations, rights, and conduct of businesses. Examples: Rights to free speech (Constitutional) vs. Corporate governance issues (Corporate).
Criminal Law vs. Tort Law
Criminal Law deals with offenses against society or the state, and is enforced by the state. Tort Law deals with civil wrongs and personal injuries, enforced by private parties. Examples: Theft (Criminal) vs. Negligence resulting in injury (Tort).
Employment Law vs. Equity Law
Employment Law governs the rights and duties between employers and workers. Equity Law is a branch of law that developed alongside common law to address fairness and justice. Examples: Workplace discrimination (Employment) vs. Injunctions to prevent harm (Equity).
Public Law vs. Private Law
Public Law governs relationships between individuals and the state, while Private Law governs relationships between individuals. Examples: Criminal Law (Public) vs. Contract Law (Private).
