Riposte
A signal that a fencer has made a counter-attack after successfully parrying their opponent's attack.
Engagement
A signal when the fencers' blades are in contact, typically indicating the beginning of an action.
Carte Jaune (Yellow card)
A card shown to indicate an official warning for a minor infraction by a fencer.
Carte Noire (Black card)
A card shown for extremely serious infractions, resulting in disqualification from the event.
Carte Rouge (Red card)
A card shown for serious infractions or multiple warnings that results in a point awarded to the opponent.
Halte
A command to stop the action immediately for safety or to reset positions.
Marche
A command for fencers to begin moving forward at the start of the bout or after a halt.

A command to take a starting position before a bout or action begins.
Avertissement
A formal warning given to a fencer for an infraction of rules.
Non-valide
A signal indicating a touch has landed outside the valid target area.

Reprise
