Children's Environmental Perception
6
Flashcards
0/6
Infancy (0-2 years)
Perception is immediate and sensory-based. Infants respond to environmental stimuli like colors, sounds, and movement.
Early Childhood (3-6 years)
Perception includes recognition of familiar places and understanding simple environmental concepts. Children at this stage may identify their room, park, or a parent's workplace.
Middle Childhood (7-11 years)
Environmental perception becomes more sophisticated, including understanding of maps and models. Children can navigate school and neighborhood with more independence.
Early Adolescence (12-14 years)
Perception expands to include more abstract concepts such as community, territory, and the interconnections within an environment. Awareness of social spaces and associated rules emerges.
Late Adolescence (15-18 years)
Perception now includes a sophisticated understanding of the environment, ability to navigate complex spaces, and a sense of environmental aesthetics and design.
Transitional Age (18-25 years)
Environmental perception is now fully developed. Individuals understand and interact with the environment in complex ways, including political, economic, and cultural considerations.
