Flashcards
0/10
Hydrophobic Coating
Purpose: Prevent water from adhering to the surface, reducing spots and enhancing clarity. Example: Applied to vehicle windshields and camera lenses.
Beam-Splitter Coating
Purpose: Divide a beam of light into two or more separate beams. Example: Used in periscopes and optical computing.
Anti-glare Coating
Purpose: Diffuse reflections on a surface. Example: Applied to computer and smartphone screens.
Conductive Coating
Purpose: Allow for the transmission of electrical signals while transmitting light. Example: Used on touch screens and LCD displays.
Filter Coating
Purpose: Selectively transmit certain wavelengths and block others. Example: Used in color filters for cameras and lighting.
Phase Retarder Coating
Purpose: Alter the phase of light traveling through it. Example: Used in polarizing components and interferometers.
Mirror Coating
Purpose: Provide reflectivity for the purpose of imaging or directing light. Example: Used in astronomical telescopes.
High-Reflective Coating
Purpose: Maximizing reflection of light from a surface. Example: Used in laser resonators and mirrors.
Hard Coating
Purpose: Protect optical components from scratches and abrasion. Example: Used on safety glasses and rugged outdoor displays.
Anti-reflective Coating
Purpose: Reduce reflection and glare from surfaces of lenses. Example: Used on eyeglasses and camera lenses.
