Flashcards
0/8
Room-Scale Movement
Advantages: Enables physical walking and enhances immersion. Limitations: Limited to the size of the physical space.
Teleportation
Advantages: Reduces motion sickness by eliminating continuous motion. Limitations: Breaks immersion and limits spatial awareness.
Joystick/Thumbstick Movement
Advantages: Familiar control scheme for gamers. Limitations: Can cause motion sickness due to the discrepancy between visual and vestibular inputs.
Arm-Swinging
Advantages: More immersive walking simulation and can provide a workout. Limitations: Less precise and can be physically demanding over time.
Walking-In-Place (WIP)
Advantages: Increases immersion by mimicking natural walking movement. Limitations: Can be physically tiring and may require additional hardware.
Vehicle-Based Locomotion
Advantages: Can be very immersive when simulating vehicles. Limitations: Restricted to scenarios where vehicle use is contextually appropriate.
Redirected Walking
Advantages: Provides a highly immersive experience. Limitations: Requires a large, specially configured physical space.
Real-World Walking
Advantages: Maximum immersion and natural movement. Limitations: Requires matching virtual world to the real world, which can be limiting and expensive.
