Braided Elastic
Features/Best Use: Narrow, lengthwise stretch, becomes narrower when stretched. Used in casings, suitable for lightweight fabrics.
Knitted Elastic
Features/Best Use: Soft, lightweight, retains shape well. Used in direct application to the fabric, suitable for medium to heavyweight fabrics.
Woven Elastic
Features/Best Use: Very strong, does not narrow when stretched, can be sewn through without losing elasticity. Best for heavy-weight fabrics and can be used in casings or sewn directly.
Clear Elastic
Features/Best Use: Stretchy, transparent, and can be sewn directly to the fabric. Used often in lightweight or sheer fabrics where visibility of the elastic must be minimized.
Fold-Over Elastic
Features/Best Use: Features a center fold line and can be used as a binding or finishing edge, providing a decorative finish. Suitable for stretchy garments like leg openings on diapers or underwear.
Buttonhole Elastic
Features/Best Use: Contains evenly spaced buttonholes to allow for adjustability in garments. Commonly used in children's clothing and maternity wear.
