Allergic Reaction
Assess breathing difficulties, administer an EpiPen if available and prescribed, and call for immediate medical help.
Fractures
Immobilize the limb, apply a splint if you know how, and seek immediate medical assistance.
Sprained Ankle
Rest the ankle, apply ice to reduce swelling, compress and elevate the limb.
Insect Stings
Remove the stinger with a flat-edged object, clean the area, apply ice to reduce swelling.
Choking
Perform the Heimlich maneuver on a conscious adult, or back blows and chest thrusts on infants.
Hypothermia
Get the person into a warm shelter, remove any wet clothing, and warm the body with blankets and warm beverages.
Heat Exhaustion
Move the person to a cooler place, hydrate with water or sports drinks, and cool them down with damp cloths or a fan.
Blisters
Do not pop the blister, cover with a sterile pad and tape, and avoid further friction.
Sunburn
Get out of the sun, cool the skin with damp cloths or a cool bath, and apply aloe or moisturizer.
Asthma Attack
Help the person sit comfortably, assist with their inhaler, and try to keep them calm.
Snake Bite
Keep the person calm, immobilize the bitten limb, and get medical attention as soon as possible.
Diabetic Emergency (Low Blood Sugar)
Offer a sugary drink or snack, encourage slow and steady consumption, and seek medical help if no improvement.
Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac Exposure
Rinse the skin with lukewarm water, apply calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream, and avoid scratching.
Ticks
Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible, gently pull straight out, and clean the bite area.
Concussion
Remove the person from play, monitor for worsening symptoms, and seek immediate medical attention.
Dehydration
Stop activity and rest, slowly drink water or sports drinks, and stay in a cool place.
Nosebleed
Tilt the head forward slightly, pinch the nostrils, and hold the position for 10-15 minutes.
Drowning
Get the person out of the water safely, call for emergency help, perform CPR if necessary and they are unresponsive.
Burns
Cool the burn with running water, cover with a sterile, non-adhesive bandage, and avoid popping blisters.
Minor Cuts and Scrapes
Wash the wound with clean water, apply antibacterial ointment, and cover with a sterile bandage.
