Flashcards
0/15
Wolves
Travel in groups, monitor children closely, and if you encounter wolves, stand your ground, make noise, and do not run.
Elk
Keep a safe distance, stay alert during rutting season, and if an elk becomes aggressive, maintain eye contact, and slowly back away.
Bears
Carry bear spray, make noise to avoid surprise encounters, and never approach or feed a bear.
Sharks
Avoid swimming at dawn or dusk, stay in groups, and if a shark is spotted, calmly but quickly leave the water.
Snakes
Stay on well-used trails, watch where you step or reach with your hands, and do not attempt to handle any snakes.
Stingrays
Shuffle your feet when entering the water, avoid swimming in known stingray habitats, and if stung, soak the wound in hot water and seek medical help.
Wild Boars
Avoid feeding or approaching them, back away slowly if you see them, and if charged, climb a tree or another elevation to escape.
Alligators
Keep a safe distance, especially near water, do not feed them, and if confronted, run in a straight line away from the alligator.
Moose
Keep a safe distance, avoid approaching calves, and if charged, run and put a large object like a tree between you and the moose.
Mountain Lions
Hike in groups, keep children close, and if you encounter a mountain lion, do not run; instead, make noise and try to look bigger.
Jellyfish
Wear protective clothing while swimming, avoid areas where jellyfish are common, and if stung, rinse with vinegar and seek medical assistance.
Bison
Observe from a distance, do not approach for photos, and if they show signs of agitation, give them space quickly.
Ticks
Wear long sleeves and pants in wooded or grassy areas, use insect repellent, and perform frequent tick checks during and after outdoor activities.
Coyotes
Do not feed coyotes, secure food sources, and if approached by a coyote, make loud noises and make yourself appear larger.
Bees
Avoid perfumed products that attract bees, be cautious around flowers and refuse areas, and if you are attacked, cover your face and run away to shelter.
