Total Resistance
In series circuits, total resistance increases as more resistors are added. In parallel circuits, total resistance decreases as more resistors are added.
Current
In series circuits, the current is the same through all components. In parallel circuits, the current can vary and is divided among the branches.
Voltage
In series circuits, voltage is divided among the components. In parallel circuits, all components share the same voltage.
Power
In both series and parallel circuits, the total power is the sum of the power dissipated by each resistor.
Failure Tolerance
In a series circuit, a single component's failure breaks the entire circuit. In parallel circuits, a single component's failure does not typically affect the operation of other branches.
Load Sharing
In a series circuit, components share the same current and can affect each other. In a parallel circuit, each component can operate independently, and the load is shared among them.
