Resistor
Limits the flow of electric current in a circuit.
Capacitor
Stores and releases electrical energy in a circuit.
Inductor
Stores energy in a magnetic field when current passes through it.
Transistor
Amplifies and switches electronic signals.
Diode
Allows current to flow in one direction only.
Light Emitting Diode (LED)
Emits light when current flows through it.
Integrated Circuit (IC)
A set of electronic circuits on one small flat piece (or 'chip') of semiconductor material.
Potentiometer
A variable resistor which can be adjusted to give varying levels of resistance.
Operational Amplifier (Op-Amp)
Amplifies the difference between two inputs and outputs the amplified signal.
Transformer
Transfers electrical energy between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction.
Voltage Regulator
Maintains a constant voltage level to a load.
Fuse
Protects circuits by breaking the connection if current is too high.
Phototransistor
A transistor that is controlled by light.
Relay
An electrically operated switch that uses an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch.
Logic Gate
Performs a logical operation on one or more binary inputs to produce a single binary output.
