Transformation Circle
Purpose: To practice quick transformations between characters and scenarios. How to do it: Players stand in a circle and morph the scene from one player to the next, altering the character or situation slightly each time.
Freeze Tag
Purpose: To foster spontaneity and creativity. How to do it: Two players start a scene and freeze in position when a third player calls 'freeze'. The third player then enters, starting a new scene.
Status Shift
Purpose: To explore power dynamics within scenes. How to do it: Perform a scene where characters purposely shift their status high and low throughout.
Props to Characters
Purpose: To stimulate creativity and inventiveness with objects. How to do it: Players use a prop to inspire a character, scene, or monologue.
Word at a Time
Purpose: To build teamwork and story-building skills. How to do it: Players form a circle and tell a story by each contributing one word at a time.
Emotional Rollercoaster
Purpose: To develop emotional range and transitions. How to do it: Perform a scene where the moderator calls out different emotions that the actors must switch to immediately.
Emotion Symphony
Purpose: To explore a range of emotions and express them non-verbally. How to do it: Each player is assigned an emotion and expresses it only through sounds and movements as the conductor points to them.
Genre Replay
Purpose: To practice adapting scenes to different genres. How to do it: Perform a scene then replay it in several different specified genres.
Conducted Story
Purpose: To improve narrative skills and group cohesion. How to do it: The conductor points to players in a circle who then continue the story sequentially.
Character Switch
Purpose: To develop flexible character portrayal. How to do it: Two players start a scene; periodically, the host yells 'switch,' and the players swap characters.
