Yes, And...
Agree with the scenario and add to it. For example, if someone says 'We're on a spaceship!', respond with 'Yes, and I just saw an alien outside!'
Make Statements
Advance the scene by making declarative statements. Instead of asking 'Where are we?', declare 'The jungle is dense here.'
There Are No Mistakes, Only Opportunities
Use any slip-ups to your advantage. If someone accidentally calls a character by the wrong name, incorporate it as a nickname or plot twist.
Play To The Top Of Your Intelligence
React as smartly as your character allows. If playing a doctor and someone mentions a symptom, respond with a logical medical question or statement.
Stay in the Moment
Focus on the present scene. If your character is having dinner, don't worry about what happens next. Instead, engage fully with the dinner conversation.
Establish The Who, What, Where
Quickly set up the characters, activities, and location. For example, saying 'Doctor, this patient needs an X-ray' immediately clarifies all three.
Give and Take
Balance the spotlight. If you've been talking a lot, give others a chance to speak or act. Allow the scene to breathe and involve all performers.
Don't Block
Avoid rejecting other performers' ideas. If someone initiates a scene as a pirate, don't dismiss it; instead, join the adventure on the high seas.
Listen and Be Affected
Pay attention to your scene partners and let their actions influence you. If a character pretends to throw a ball at you, react as though you've been hit.
Keep The Action Moving Forward
Progress the scene by introducing new elements or advancing the plot. If characters are planning a heist, start enacting the plan rather than just talking about it.
