Plant Life Cycles

Flashcards
0/5
Vegetative Growth
The stage where the plant grows leaves, stems, and roots rapidly but does not flower. It's developing the structures that will support reproduction later.
Seedling
In this stage, the young plant grows and develops its first leaves. This is the growth phase after germination and before maturity. The plant starts photosynthesis.
Germination
During this stage, the plant seed begins to grow. A seed requires water, correct temperature, and the right location to germinate. It's when the embryonic plant emerges from the seed.
Reproductive (Flowering)
At this stage, the plant develops flowers. Flowers are the reproductive structures that will produce seeds. Pollination often occurs during this time.
Fruiting and Seed Production
Following pollination and fertilization, fruits and seeds develop. The plant's lifecycle can begin anew once these seeds are dispersed.
