Initiating
Defines the project or phase by obtaining authorization. It primarily focuses on committing the organization to begin the next phase of the project.
Planning
Establishes the scope, objectives, and procedures of the project. It's about setting goals, defining roles, and producing a plan for executing the project.
Executing
Carries out the project plan by performing the activities included in it. This is where deliverables are developed and completed.
Monitoring and Controlling
Tracks, reviews, and orchestrates the progress and performance of the project. Identifies any areas that might require changes and initiates the corresponding changes.
Closing
Finalizes all activities across all of the project management process groups, formally completing the project or a project phase.
Scope Management
A planning activity that involves defining and managing all the work required to complete the project successfully.
Quality Management
An executing activity that determines quality policies, objectives, and responsibilities so that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken.
Resource Management
Involves planning, estimating, and acquiring resources needed to complete project tasks. It also includes development and management of the project team.
Communication Management
An activity of planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing that ensures timely and appropriate collection, creation, distribution, storage, retrieval, management, control, and the ultimate disposition of project information.
Risk Management
The process of conducting risk management planning, identification, analysis, response planning, and monitoring and controlling on a project.
