Lockout/Tagout Procedures
Procedures designed to ensure that machines are properly shut off and not started up again before the completion of maintenance or repair work.
Hierarchy of Controls
A system used to minimize or eliminate exposure to hazards. The hierarchy in descending order of effectiveness includes elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
Documents that provide information on the properties of hazardous chemicals and substances, and include instructions for the safe use and potential hazards associated with these materials.
Incident Investigation
The methodical examination of an incident or accident to identify the root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Risk Assessment
The process of identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing measures to improve safety and reduce the likelihood of accidents.
