Feedback
The information about the output or the process that is sent back to the system's input to regulate performance.
Forward Path
The sequence of system components that processes the input to become the output.
Disturbance
An external force or change that disrupts the system's process, potentially changing the output.
Closed Loop
A control system design where the system uses feedback to self-regulate and adjust to achieve the set point.
Reference Signal
The ideal or intended behavior against which system performance is compared, typically associated with the set point.
Process
The set of operations or actions the system performs to transform the input to an output.
Error Signal
A signal generated by the difference between the actual output and the reference signal, indicating how much correction is needed.
Set Point
The desired or target value a system aims to maintain through its feedback loop mechanism.
Input
The stimulus or signal entering a system that is subject to processing by the feedback loop.
Controller
A component that receives feedback and adjusts the system's behavior to achieve the desired setpoint.
Comparator
The part of the system that compares the feedback to the set point to determine any deviation.
Open Loop
A type of control system where the output is not influenced by feedback; actions are not modified based on outcomes.
Output
The resulting data or signal which comes out of the system after processing the input.
Actuator
A mechanism that effects change within the system based on the instructions from the controller.
Sensor
A device or component that measures the output and converts it to data that can be used as feedback.
