Understory Layer
Between canopy and forest floor; low light; plants with large leaves. Examples: Jaguars, Red-eyed Tree Frogs, Ferns.
Shrub Layer
Layer above the forest floor; composed of shrubs and short plants; more light than forest floor. Examples: Berry shrubs, small rodents, insects.
Canopy Layer
Primary layer of the forest, rich in biodiversity; trees with high interlocking branches. Examples: Sloths, Howler Monkeys, Orchids.
Forest Floor
Bottom-most layer; dark and damp; decomposition occurs here. Examples: Decomposers like fungi, insects like beetles, and large mammals like Gorillas.
Emergent Layer
Highest canopy; tall trees reaching up to 200 feet; exposed to high wind, sunlight. Examples: Kapok tree, Eagle, Harpy Eagles.
