Ollie
A trick where the rider and board leap into the air without the use of the rider's hands.
Kickflip
A trick in which the skateboarder flips the board 360 degrees along the axis that extends from the nose to the tail of the board.
Heelflip
Similar to a kickflip, the skateboard flips but in the opposite direction, with the heel used to flip the board.
Pop Shove-it
The skateboarder makes the board spin 180 degrees underfoot while riding, without the tail of the board ever hitting the ground.
Frontside 180
A 180-degree turn performed while riding forward, where the rider turns their front side toward the direction of the turn.
Backside 180
A 180-degree turn performed while riding forward, where the rider turns their back side toward the direction of the turn.
Varial Kickflip
A combination of a kickflip and a 180-degree pop shove-it.
Varial Heelflip
Combines a heelflip with a 180-degree backside pop shove-it.
Hardflip
A trick that combines a frontside pop shove-it with a kickflip.
Inward Heelflip
A trick that combines a heelflip with a backside pop shove-it, spinning inwards.
360 Flip (Tre Flip)
A 360-degree kickflip that includes a 360-degree board rotation along the horizontal axis.
Nollie
An ollie executed from the nose of the board rather than the tail.
Nosegrind
Grinding on the edge of an object using only the front truck of the skateboard.
5-0 Grind
The back truck grinds on the edge of an object while the front truck is lifted in the air.
Casper
A freestyle trick where the back foot hooks the tail edge and the front foot is on the underside of the nose.
Blunt Slide
Sliding on the back or front of the board’s tail or nose, while the rest of the board is lifted up.
Impossible
The board wraps around the back foot, completing a full rotation along the longitudinal axis.
Manual
Balancing on two wheels on either the tail or nose without the other set of wheels touching the ground.
Nose Manual
A manual performed with the front wheels lifted and only the back wheels in contact with the ground.
Backside Tailslide
The skater ollies and slides the backside of the board’s tail on a ledge, rail, or coping.
Frontside Tailslide
The skater performs an ollie and slides the front side of the board's tail on a grinding surface.
Darkslide
A trick where the skater flips the board upside down and slides on the grip tape side along a rail or ledge.
Wallride
A trick where the skater rides along a vertical wall after ollieing into it, then comes off back to the ground.
Noseblunt Slide
A trick where the skater slides the nose of the skateboard on a rail, ledge, or lip of a ramp while the tail is lifted.
Benihana
A grab trick where the rear hand grabs the tail of the board, and the rear foot kicks the board out straight behind.
Airwalk
A trick where the skater grabs the board and extends both feet outwards to simulate walking in the air.
Lip Slide
Coming up to a coping or ledge, the skater slides the tail or nose of the skateboard along the surface.
Nose Stall
The skater comes to a stop on the nose of the board, often on the coping of a ramp, before usually re-entering.
McTwist
An aerial trick involving a backside 540-degree rotational flip. Typically performed in a halfpipe or big ramp.
