Ollie
A jump performed by pressing down on the back foot to spring off the tail of the snowboard.
Carving
Making clean turns on the edge of the snowboard without skidding.
Half-pipe
A U-shaped, snow-covered structure used for performing aerial tricks.
Nollie
A jump performed by pressing the front foot down to spring off the nose of the snowboard.
Grab
Holding any part of the snowboard with the hand during a trick.
Manual
Balancing on the tail (tail manual) or nose (nose manual) of the snowboard while riding.
Goofy Stance
A snowboarding stance where the rider has the right foot forward.
Switch
Riding in the opposite stance from one's natural preference (regular riders in a goofy stance or vice versa).
Tail Press
Flexing the tail of the snowboard downward while keeping the nose raised, often during a slide or butter.
Backside
A rotation where the rider turns with their back facing the direction of the turn or trick.
McTwist
An inverted aerial trick that involves a 540-degree rotation or more, often performed in a half-pipe.
Butter
A flat ground trick involving balancing on either the nose or tail of the snowboard while turning.
Kickflip
A trick where the snowboarder flips the board 360 degrees along the board's longitudinal axis.
Bonk
Intentionally hitting an object with the snowboard, often while airborne.
Regular Stance
A snowboarding stance where the rider has the left foot forward.
Fakie
Riding backwards on a snowboard but with the lead foot still in front.
Jibbing
Performing tricks, such as sliding or grinding, on objects other than snow, like rails or boxes.
Frontside
A rotation where the rider turns with their chest facing the direction of the turn or trick.
Method Grab
A type of grab where the rider reaches behind their front leg to grab the heel edge between the bindings while arching their back and kicking out the back leg.
Powder
Fresh, untracked snow that is soft and fluffy, considered ideal conditions by many snowboarders.
