Horse Stance
A wide stance that improves stability, strengthens the legs, and is often used in Kung Fu and Karate for training leg endurance and proper body alignment.
Sumo Stance
A very wide and low stance resembling a sumo wrestler's stance. Enhances grounding and is used in grappling arts to maintain balance and resist being pushed over.
Cat Stance
A stance where most weight is on the back leg and the front ball of the foot touches the ground lightly. It's utilized in Karate and Kung Fu for quick strikes or to transition into other techniques.
Guard Stance
A protective stance with hands raised to guard the face and body area. Common in boxing and kickboxing as a fundamental stance for protection and quick counter-strikes.
Fighting Stance
A balanced and flexible stance with knees slightly bent and feet shoulder-width apart. Used across various martial arts for mobility and readiness to attack or defend.
Crane Stance
A one-legged stance with the other leg raised and knee bent, mimicking the bird. Improves balance and is known from Kung Fu.
Front Stance
A long stance where one foot points forward and the other back, distributing weight unequally to resemble a lunging position. Primarily increases reach and is used for powerful strikes in Karate and Taekwondo.
Back Stance
A defensive stance with the weight shifted onto the back leg and front foot turned outwards. It enables quick transitions in Taekwondo and Karate.
Ready Stance
A neutral stance with feet shoulder-width apart and hands in front ready to block or strike. Common in Taekwondo as a preparation for executing techniques.
Attention Stance
An upright standing position with feet together and hands at the sides or behind the back. Used as a formal starting position in many martial arts to show respect or readiness.
