The Fully Functioning Person
A term developed by Carl Rogers to describe a person who is in touch with their feelings, able to trust their inner urges and guidance, and is open to experiences.
Actualizing Tendency
The basic human urge to fulfill all of one's potentialities and capabilities. It is a fundamental concept in the humanistic theory of Carl Rogers.
Existential Psychology
Focuses on the human condition as a whole using a positive approach that applauds human capacities and aspirations. Key figures include Rollo May and Viktor Frankl.
Peak Experiences
Transcendent moments of heightened joy and euphoria, which can lead to a sense of fulfillment and can often lead to a changed perception of life. Described by Abraham Maslow.
