Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
A developmental disorder affecting communication and behavior.
Deaf-Blindness
A simultaneous significant hearing and visual impairment.
Deafness
A severe hearing impairment that hinders the processing of linguistic information through hearing, with or without amplification.
Emotional Disturbance
A condition exhibiting one or more specific emotional or behavioral responses over an extended period of time, affecting educational performance.
Hearing Impairment
An impairment in hearing, whether permanent or fluctuating, that adversely affects a child's educational performance but is not included under 'deafness'.
Intellectual Disability
Significantly subaverage general intellectual functioning with deficits in adaptive behavior, manifested during the developmental period.
Multiple Disabilities
Concomitant impairments (such as intellectual disability-blindness, intellectual disability-orthopedic impairment, etc.), not to be confused with multiple diagnoses or disabilities.
Orthopedic Impairment

Other Health Impairment
Having limited strength, vitality, or alertness, including a heightened sensitivity to environmental stimuli, that results in limited alertness with respect to the educational environment.
Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
A disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or using language, spoken or written.
Speech or Language Impairment
A communication disorder such as stuttering, impaired articulation, language impairment, or a voice impairment, that adversely affects a child’s educational performance.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
An acquired injury to the brain caused by an external physical force, resulting in total or partial functional disability or psychosocial impairment, or both.
Visual Impairment Including Blindness
An impairment in vision that, even with correction, adversely affects a child’s educational performance. This term includes both partial sight and blindness.
