Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
Addresses interpersonal issues in depression, looking at four key problem areas: grief, role disputes, role transitions, and interpersonal deficits. Techniques include communication analysis and encouragement of social support.
Existential Therapy
Centers on the human condition as a whole, focusing on concepts such as freedom, responsibility, meaning, and existential anxiety. Techniques are not standardized but often include reflection, philosophical dialogue, and exploration of personal values.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Humanistic Therapy
Emphasizes individual’s inherent drive towards self-actualization and creativity. Techniques include active listening, unconditional positive regard, and empathy.
Family Systems Therapy
Views an individual’s problems as part of a larger interpersonal system, often the family. Techniques include genograms, circular questioning, and structural mapping.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Focuses on changing unhelpful thought patterns to improve emotions and behaviors. Techniques include cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and exposure therapy.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Aims to reduce stress and develop mindfulness through practice and training. Techniques include mindfulness meditation, yoga, and body awareness.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Aims to reveal unconscious content of a client's psyche to alleviate psychic tension. It uses techniques such as free association, interpretation, and transference analysis.
Behavioral Therapy
Focuses solely on increasing desirable behaviors and decreasing unwanted behaviors through conditioning. Techniques include positive reinforcement, punishment, and modeling.
Gestalt Therapy
Emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses on the individual’s experience in the present moment. Techniques include the empty chair dialogues, enactment, and heightening awareness.
