The Public Interest
A concept referring to the welfare or well-being of the general public. Public servants are tasked with making decisions that best serve the public's overall interest, rather than the interest of specific individuals or groups.
Transparency
Transparency in public administration involves open communication and accessibility of information to the public. This builds trust and allows for accountability in government actions.
Utilitarianism

Whistleblowing
The act of exposing any kind of information or activity that is deemed illegal, unethical, or not correct within a public sector organization that is either private or public. Public servants may face ethical dilemmas when deciding to report wrongdoing, balancing loyalty to the organization with the duty to the public.
Procedural Justice
Concerned with the fairness and the transparency of the processes by which decisions are made. This principle assures that public servants adhere to fair processes, even if the outcome is not favorable for all stakeholders.
Fiduciary Duty
An obligation to act in the best interest of the public and the government as a trustee. Public servants are entrusted with public resources and must manage them responsibly.
Equity
Implies fairness and impartiality in the provision of public services and administration of justice. Public servants must act to ensure fair treatment for all, without discrimination or bias.
Accountability
The obligation of public servants to be answerable for their actions and to justify them to the public. Public servants are responsible for their decisions and must be able to explain and defend them.
