Ball Clay
A highly plastic, fine-grained clay that is used in pottery and ceramics. It improves the workability and strength of the clay body when mixed with other clays.
Fire Clay
A refractory clay with a high melting point, making it ideal for use in kiln linings and fire bricks as well as stoneware.
Kaolin
A white, dense clay used in the production of porcelain and refined china. It has low plasticity and is non-reactive at high temperatures.
Earthenware Clay
A common, low-firing clay that is porous when fired, it's often used for pottery and earthenware ceramics.
Stoneware Clay
A strong and durable clay that is fired at high temperatures. It is vitreous when fired and is used to create stoneware ceramics.
Porcelain Clay
A very fine-grained, white clay that becomes translucent when fired at high temperatures. It's typically used for fine china and delicate ceramic wares.
Terracotta Clay
A porous clay that is commonly used for ceramic planters, roof tiles, and other earthenware. It has a distinct orange-red color due to the iron content.
Red Clay
Contains a high percentage of iron, which gives it its red color. It is used for brick-making and terra cotta.
Bentonite Clay
A highly absorbent clay that swells when wet, making it useful as a sealing material and in health and beauty products.
Raku Clay
Designed to withstand thermal shock, raku clay is used primarily in raku firing, a Japanese technique involving rapid heating and cooling.
