TLS
Transport Layer Security - A cryptographic protocol that provides secure communications over a computer network.
IP
Internet Protocol - Responsible for addressing and routing packets of data so that they can travel across networks and reach the correct destination.
EIGRP
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol - A network protocol that lets routers exchange information more efficiently than with earlier network protocols.
SMB
Server Message Block - A network file sharing protocol that allows applications on a computer to read and write to files and to request services from server programs in a computer network.
RTCP
Real-Time Control Protocol - Works with RTP in media streaming environments to monitor transmission statistics and quality of service and to aid in the synchronization of multiple streams.
POP3
Post Office Protocol version 3 - Used for retrieving emails from a mail server, most suitable for single-device email management.
SSH
Secure Shell - A protocol for operating network services securely over an unsecured network.
Telnet
A network protocol that allows a user on one computer to log into another computer that's part of the same network.
RIP
Routing Information Protocol - A distance-vector routing protocol, which employs the hop count as a routing metric.
NTP
Network Time Protocol - Used to synchronize the clocks of computers to some time reference.
DNS
Domain Name System - Translates human-friendly domain names to IP addresses.
TCP
Transmission Control Protocol - Provides reliable, ordered, and error-checked delivery of a stream of bytes.
SSL
Secure Sockets Layer - Designed to create an encrypted connection between a web server and a browser.
HTTPS
HTTP Secure - An extension of HTTP with security capabilities through encryption with SSL/TLS.
SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol - Used for sending emails from clients to mail servers or between servers.
OSPF
Open Shortest Path First - A link-state routing protocol for Internet Protocol (IP) networks that uses a link state routing algorithm and falls into the group of interior gateway protocols.
SIP
Session Initiation Protocol - A signaling protocol used for initiating, maintaining, modifying and terminating real-time sessions that involve video, voice, messaging and other communications applications and services between two or more endpoints on IP networks.
IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol - Used for retrieving emails from a mail server, allowing management of a mailbox by multiple clients.
LDAP
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol - An open, vendor-neutral, industry-standard application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an Internet Protocol network.
ICMP
Internet Control Message Protocol - Used for sending error messages and operational information.
BGP
Border Gateway Protocol - A standardized exterior gateway protocol designed to exchange routing and reachability information among autonomous systems on the internet.
RTP
Real-time Transport Protocol - Designed for end-to-end, real-time transfer of streaming media.
HTTP
HyperText Transfer Protocol - Used for transmitting web pages over the internet.
FTP
File Transfer Protocol - Used for transferring files between a client and a server.
UDP
User Datagram Protocol - A connectionless protocol that allows sending of datagrams without establishing a connection.
RARP
Reverse Address Resolution Protocol - Used to find an IP address when given a MAC address, which is the reverse operation of ARP.
SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol - Used in network management systems to monitor and manage network devices, and to collect device information.
DHCP
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol - Used for automatically assigning IP addresses and other network configurations to devices on a network.
ARP
Address Resolution Protocol - Resolves an IP address to its corresponding physical network address (MAC).
AFP
Apple Filing Protocol - A network protocol that offers file services for macOS and the classic Mac OS.
